KPIT-OTCG: Tool for Run-time MCU Verification

KPIT has developed a tool- “Opcode Test Code Generator” (OTCG) which generates the test code to verify the opcodes of Infineon microcontrollers during runtime in safety critical systems.

All ECUs in safety critical applications must be SIL3 compliant for reliability and hence the MCUs. It is recommended that,

  • MCU must be tested “ONLINE”
  • All the Opcodes, used in safety critical applications, must get tested online periodically

KPIT OTCG is a Windows-based offline tool that generates the test code from ECU application. The test code can be integrated in an ECU with the application and called periodically for the MCU verification.

Test Code Integration

Following are the salient features of the KPIT OTCG Tool

  • Supports Infineon’s TriCore v1.3 (TC1766 and TC1796) and TriCore v1.3.1 (TC1767 and TC1797) microcontrollers
  • Generates test patterns for all possible combinations of instructions used in the target application
  • Configurable parameters like memory block size and initialization values for memory and registers
  • Handling of special instructions like call, jump etc.
  • Supports both hardware and simulator
  • OTCG is developed by following CMMi processes
